Many survivors of child abuse struggle during the holidays. Father's Day is especially hard on survivors who were abused by their fathers or father figures in their lives. I hope you will reach out and get help. Do not struggle on your own. Call a Crisis Line if you have to, and never give up!! Keep looking for help wherever you can find it! Just a word of encouragement for my survivor friends. Reach out and get help. Don't suffer on your own. You do count! You do matter! The shame belongs to the abusers and those that support them! For all my survivor friends who have no validation and no support, please be sure and reach out and get help. Do not suffer on your own and call a crisis line if you have to. We did not deserve to be abused. What was done to us was wrong and we are left to pick up the pieces of what is left of our lives. Please do not give up! Not EVER! Reach out, and do not let your abusers win this fight. You win this fight with ME!! Survivor Weekend Check In with Laurie Ann Smith 10 Year Healing Journey Milestone Anniversary5/22/2017 Today marks my ten year healing journey anniversary and I just wanted to spend a few minutes to encourage other survivors of abuse who may be hurting, struggling, and lonely to hold on, get help, reach out, and do whatever you need to do to be victorious in your journey! We must be our own best advocate and work towards getting our needs met and learning to cope and to care about ourselves. My main message is NEVER GIVE UP! Win this fight with me! Adult survivors of child abuse can have difficulties coping with our past and maintaining our present lives. I just want to reach out to those of us who may be experiencing difficulties in our daily walk and journey and hopefully be an encouragement to reach out and get help if you need it. Do the right thing and get help if you are not coping well and struggling on your own. Call a crisis line if you do not have anyone who is trustworthy in your life to call. Do the right thing and reach out and do not ever give up! Join me for a walk to healing, to wholeness, to learning how to care for ourselves. I am a survivor of child abuse, child sexual abuse, neglect and did not learn how to care for myself, how to cope, or how to change the learned toxic behaviours I was taught while growing up abused from birth. I had to begin learning all of these very important pieces to living a healthy lifestyle after I began my healing journey. I have been on my healing journey since May 22, 2007 and there are many times that I forget to do the things I need to do to self-care, nurture, and cope on a daily basis. Join me for a quick chat in the morning as I share with you what I'm using and working on for my own healing journey. What works for me, may not work for you, but I will share resources and information that you can take a look at and see if any of the information might be useful for you. Whatever you do, do NOT GIVE UP! Keep reaching out, keep looking for that help, that hope and stay alive! Win this fight with me! Walk with me toward complete and total restoration.
